Summertime can be hard to dress for, especially when it is really hot. I love to add layers to an outfit for interest and flair, yet layering when it is hot outside is pretty much like torture. I tend to stick with familiar looks that I know will work during the summer to avoid looking like a shlump. Without my summertime staples I would be lost. I have a very consistent style, and as I revisit my archives it is readily apparent. I wear the same types of items on repeat. If you don’t have these items in your closet, you should consider adding them.
Short Striped Dress (shocking to no one)
I like to wear a short striped dress instead of shorts. They are comfortable for running around and look cute. People tend to assume that you are “put together” if you are wearing a dress, and I find them way more comfortable than shorts. Hello no waistband!!!
A White Button Down Shirt
We just had this discussion about why you need a white shirt in your closet.
White Denim Jeans
Do not fear white jeans! I was afraid of them up until about 3 years ago. The trick is to find a pair that flatters you. You can do it! Keep trying them on until you find THE pair. If I can do it, anyone can.
Shirt Dresses & Sun Dresses
Don’t be afraid of black or other non-traditional sun dresses. Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean that you can’t rock dark colors. There are lots of non-bright, non-pastel summertime dresses out there to choose from. Or stick to the basics. I like both the traditional and non-traditional kinds.
I hope you can get some inspiration from some of my past summertime looks. Looking back on all these past outfits make me realize that I do indeed like my hair longer.
Thanks so much for stopping by! You guys are the best readers in the world.
