Everlane Review: The Ribbed Wool-Cashmere Oversized Cardigan

Hi, friends! Sorry for being absent. After getting back from Austria I was just a wee bit jet lagged. I also returned to an incredibly busy weekend that was jammed packed full of events I absolutely had to attend, you know like a kid’s band concert, and my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. Then we hosted Thanksgiving for the family…  So yeah…  Just getting back into a bit of normalcy in my world.

I’ve had an oversized gray cardigan on my mental shopping list for a while. You need serious sweater game when you live in Michigan because you spend so many months in them here. When I spotted  I thought it just might fit the bill and fill that gaping hole in my closet. I pondered it for a while and after being so happy with my other Everlane purchases, I decided to give it a try.

I was a wee bit hesitant about pushing the button because I have sensitive skin and was afraid that the sweater may be itchy. I’m OK with merino wool and cashmere, but regular wool can drive me bonkers. I’m happy to report that it is NOT itchy. It is the comfiest thing EVAH. It is 92% wool and 8% cashmere, so I’m sure the cashmere has a bit to play with that.

It’s warm without being TOO warm. The weave is just right. It’s not too thin and not too thick. My mother-in-law tried it on and wants one too now. And she is pickier than me! BAM! Result? Two thumbs up. I highly recommend giving this sweater or another of the Everlane wool-cashmere sweaters a try. PRO-TIP: Size down. I originally ordered a medium and had to send it back for the small. Again, this is not sponsored in any way. I just like sharing my high-quality finds with you. I’m nice like that.

I hope all my American friends had a great Thanksgiving holiday and didn’t get trampled in any of the Black Friday sales. I like to shop Black Friday on my iPad. It’s safer that way. Be safe out there. Those mall parking lots are deadly. Nothing says holiday spirit like running people over to get a parking spot!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

XOXO,

Ashley

How to Wear a Wool Sweater Vest With a Tunic Shirt

I bought this sweater vest last fall at Madewell and have worn the heck out of it. I wasn’t 100% sure about it when I bought it. I hemmed and hawed and almost returned it several times, but ended up deciding to keep it. I’m so glad I did because I have worn it a ton.

A sweater vest is such a fun look. It’s warm, but not TOO warm. It’s great for those fall days that are chilly, but not officially cold. I have worn this exact outfit to work a bunch of times. I love wearing this sweater with a tunic shirt and skinny Ponte pants. The tunic is a must when wearing skinny Ponte pants. Bum camouflage.

By the time you all read this, I’ll be in Austria. I’ll be there for work for the week. If you want to laugh at my shenanigans and likely mishaps, follow me on Instagram (link on right). Yeah…  I don’t speak or read German. Luckily, the majority of Austrians speak English and are kind, helpful souls. This will be my second solo international work trip. Keep me in your thoughts. I have major travel anxiety.

Everlane Review: Cashmere V-Neck Sweater

One of the things that Everlane* is most known for (besides their “radical transparency”) is their cashmere. Every year they extend their offering of styles and color. They truly have a cashmere sweater for anyone. You want a turtleneck? Got it. You want a boxy turtleneck? Got it. You want a cropped mock neck? Got it. You want a crew? Got it. You want a cardigan? Got it.

I decided that it was due time that I gave their cashmere a try. I tend to prefer a v-neck over a crew neck, as it helps to distract from my ample boobage situation and broad shoulders. There’s nothing like trying to look pretty and coming across as a football player in drag. <insert eye roll here>

I’m still having 50/50 luck with the sizing at Everlane*. However, this sweater was not one of the culprits. I had problems with a pair of shoes and pants, and those are always tricky. So, how is the sweater? Ummm…  I love it! It fit as anticipated and it’s SUPER soft. It’s a nice medium weight and I love the style. The cashmere is not see through. In fact, I’m wearing a white bra in these photos becauseI couldn’t find my black one and there is no show through. I know this sweater is going to be a closet workhorse. Now I’m just trying to decide what color to get next. Result? Two thumbs up!

So, where did I wear this? I wore this out to dinner with the fam. I was feeling a little sassy that day.
