I’m always on the lookout for great bags. I had a hole in my wardrobe that I had been trying to fill for a while. I wanted (needed?) a cross-body bag that I could fit a decent amount of stuff into, but was still small enough to wear out and about for a day of shopping, running around, and or sight seeing. You’d think that would be an easy find. You’d think…
Have you met me? Do you know how picky I am? Not only does said bag have to be cute and made well, it also needs to be affordable. I’m frugal. I love Coach bags, but I just don’t want to drop $400 on one of the Dinky bags (that’s the official name). The price goes up for the snazzier/flashier ones.
As I was checking out the latest J. Crew release, my heart went aflutter. I saw the bag that met all my criteria. I went to the store to check it out in person. Ashley version of the Quality check. It passed muster. The most difficult decision was deciding which color to get. There are so many great options. I WANT THEM ALL!!!!
What color did I get? Festival Red. I’m trying to add a bit of color to my life.
Look 1 Look 2 Look 3
At just $128 for a gorgeous Italian made leather bag, I fear these will go fast. I have noticed that the olive color has already disappeared from the website. Get thyself to J. Crew and check out this bag. You will not be disappointed. There is a color option for everyone: Classic or daring. Just do it.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!
I’m a yogi. I practice yoga at least twice a week. I’d love to practice more, but you know… Life and other responsibilities. Plus, it’s hard for me to leave the house after coming home and putting on my comfy clothes. I have to do a lot of self-talk to amp myself up to leave. I’m an introvert, and people-ing is hard.
I’ve been practicing yoga off and on for about 6.5 years at this point. I’ve tried all sorts of exercise over the years, none of which I have loved. Some that I loathed. After trying yoga for the first time I knew it was for me. The thing about it that struck me the hardest was that I was able to get out of my head during practice. I don’t know about you, but my mind is ALWAYS going. I feel like I have 1,500 internet tabs open at all times. My brain just won’t shut the hell up. Yoga shut it up. Trying to not fall over and look like a total ass is so good for shutting your brain up.
There are some yoga poses that I’m really good at, and others that I’m not so good at. I’m naturally pretty bendy, but have limited upper body strength. I’ve improved so much from when I first began. My goal is to keep at it, keep getting stronger, and to be a better version of myself: physically, mentally and spiritually.
I could go on and on about the positives of yoga… But what I really wanted to share with you today were some awesome yoga pants. With me practicing 2-3 times a week, I can’t afford $100 yoga pants. I still have to pay the mortgage and buy shoes. My favorite yoga pants are actually from… Wait for it… Old Navy. They are the Go-Dry High-Rise Compression Crop Leggings. The compression holds all your giggly bits in and the high-rise hides your lily white fish belly when your shirt rides up while in down dog. Best part? They are under $30.
I’d include a picture, but I’m pretty sure you all know what yoga pants look like. I’ve linked them above.
Result: Two thumbs up!

I’m always on the lookout for skin care products that are of high quality, work, and yet aren’t exorbitantly priced. Skin care products can be such a swindle. The skin care companies feed upon women’s insecurities and make billions doing it. Why must a good eye cream or anti-aging moisturizer cost $100 or more? It’s madness!
The French do it right. They have amazing skin care lines that are carried in their drugstores. They are high quality and affordable. If you are ever in Paris, you must visit City Pharma in St. Germain. I was not the only woman who loaded up on product. Mad props go out to my lovely husband who patiently waited for me while I shopped there… On two separate occasions.
I’m happy to report that I have found a great eye cream that won’t break the bank. Ironically, it’s French. I’ve been using RoC Retinol Correxion Eye Cream for almost a year and am quite pleased with it. It works very well on those fine lines around the eyes. All hail Retinol!
Full disclosure: I also have been using the RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer (with SPF) for the past eleven years. I love them both.
Just as a note, some people find that Retinol makes their skin irritated. I tend to have sensitive skin, so when I first started using product with Retinol in it, I used it every other day until my skin got used to it. Now, I just slather it on.
Result? Two thumbs up.
