After doing the seasonal closet rotation I realized that I had a lot of summer clothes (especially dresses) that didn’t bring me joy. They either fit poorly, didn’t flatter my body style, were too short, or were no longer in the color scheme that I am drawn to. I culled the herd. “Donation pile for you!”
You guys… The only colors I want to wear right now are black, white, olive green, and blue in denim form. But black is the overwhelming winner. So, I guess I’m a New Waver again. I’m a bit more classic in my all black looks at 45 than I was at 16. I hope.
You can’t tell very well in the photos, but the sweater I’m wearing has a mesh panel at the top in the front and the bottom half of the back. So, some sort of layering is required. Or you could be more risque than I am. You decide. I’m wearing a tank top because I am not a flasher. I thought the mesh panels added a bit of something something that makes the sweater interesting. The sweater is from Athleta. They have made a commitment to sustainability and supporting women, so I’m happy to support this company. You can read more about their commitment here.
A note on sizing regarding this sweater. It runs really, really big. I am generally a medium and I ended up buying this in an extra small. As you can see, it is still plenty flowy. Size down!

I fell in love with white denim the moment I saw this old photo of my Mom. I always thought she looked SO stylish in this outfit. This picture was taken in the late 60’s or early 70’s. No later than September of ’71 because she sold that car before I was born. I’ve also loved Volkswagen Karmann Ghias forever too. I’d die to have a classic Karmann Ghia. DREAM CAR. That sound that the old Volkswagens make??? I die.
I’d totally wear her outfit today… That’s the great thing about wearing the classics. THEY NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE.
For today’s ode to white denim look I opted to wear a blue chambray shirt with orange accessories. I love this color combination. It absolutely screams summertime. It’s such a simple, yet classic look. Was this photo taken in the 60’s or the 20-teens? You decide. Timeless… Right?

You guys… We are hurtling towards fall. FAST. Holy moly, summer is almost over. How did that even happen? I swear it was just May. I’ve got about two weeks to wear my white jeans without any guilt or fear of getting the side-eye from an old lady at church.
I know that the “no white after Labor Day” rule has been thrown out, but I still have a hard time with it. I am a traditionalist, and was brought up by a southern mother, y’all. So, I’ll wear them with pride through Labor Day, and then likely put them away until next year. I live in Michigan, so it will probably snow in September anyway.
This week I’ll share a couple of my favorite color combinations when wearing white jeans. Black, white, and red is today’s color combo, which should be no shock to my long time readers. It’s always been one of my favorite combinations, and one I wear frequently.
